Snap Lock Tenons

Snap Lock Tenons are 3D printed click-fit connectors that add a new dimension to your Festool Domino DF500 and DF700. Instead of cutting a mortise and inserting a standard tenon, you install two interlocking halves — one in each mating board — and snap them together by hand. The connection self-aligns and holds the joint closed while glue sets, dramatically reducing the number of clamps you need and freeing you to move on to the next joint without waiting.

Made by Woodhaven's partner JC Woodcrafters, these connectors are ideal for face frames, cabinet panels, drawer boxes, furniture frames, and any glue-up where clamp juggling slows you down.

Sizes and Domino settings:

• 8mm — requires an 8mm cutter set to the widest width setting and 15mm depth. Best for small to medium applications such as face frames and smaller panel joints.
• 10mm — requires a 10mm cutter set to the widest width setting and 15mm depth. Best for medium to larger applications such as cabinet carcasses and wide panel glue-ups.

Use one Snap Lock Tenon every 150–200mm alongside your standard Domino tenons for best alignment and holding power.

Installation tips:

1. Drive the connector halves into the mortises using Kreg 1" Pan Head screws or equivalent. For thin stock where screws are not practical, CA glue or super glue is an effective alternative.
2. Match your screw thread to your material — coarse thread for softwood and sheet goods, fine thread for hardwood.
3. Do not overtighten. Use an installation driver with adjustable torque so the connector seats flush without deforming. Adjust torque as needed — the connectors should snap together with firm hand pressure, not require force.
4. The female connector should be seated as wide as possible in the mortise. Adjust the male connector tighter or looser until the snap engagement feels right for your application.
