Our heavy-duty 8536 3-1/2" with 5/8" radius corners Hinge Template Jig offers woodworkers the fastest, easiest, and most precise method to rout hinge, strike plate, and lockset mortises. Our template guide is designed to guide your router with a bearing-guided bit (Woodhaven 8500 or 8505, sold separately) or a guide bushing and bit combo (5030K & 13416, sold separately), it ensures flawless, repeatable results every time. The jig securely attaches to a user-supplied 3/4" thick wood fence using included hardware, which prevents tear-out and simplifies indexing. Two screw-in indexing pins keep the fence perfectly square and allow you to set your preferred backset with confidence. This template is an essential tool for achieving professional-quality door hardware installation with ease and accuracy.

I have tried many jigs and I like this the best. I looked at the aluminum ones but door edges are beveled about 2.5 to 3 degrees. Look at your doors and you will see the hinge sitting proud on one edge. With this jig, I put a matching angle of the door on the fence I create to attach the jig. Now the jig lays flat on the door for perfect routing and my hinges are flush with the door. Other jigs lay flat but they are overly complicated and made of plastic when it is not necessary in my opinion. It's so easy to get it positioned and then tighten the fence. Run a test on a scrap piece of wood for positioning correctness and router bit depth. Can't get any easier and accurate than this.

Best Jig out there. I’ve purchased my second one recently in 7 years. Make sure to turn off your router before lifting it or you will clip the sides and damage the jig. Hence my reason for buying a second one. 😆
