8500 Bearing-Guided Hinge Mortise Bit – The Go-To Bit for Woodhaven Hinge Jigs

The 8500 is the most commonly used bit with Woodhaven hinge jigs; and for good reason. This carbide-tipped bearing-guided mortise bit cuts clean, accurate hinge mortises in a single pass. The 5/8" OD guide bearing rides against the edge of the hinge jig template, keeping the cut precisely on path every time. No layout lines, no guesswork, no tearout.

Designed for use with a trim or full-size router on a 1/4" shank, the 8500 cuts a mortise with 1/4" radiused corners — easily squared with a chisel if a sharp corner is required. For the vast majority of hinge installations the radiused corner is all you need.

If your jig must be mounted above a 1/2" thick door stop, use the 8505 instead, it has a longer 3/4" cut length for added reach.
